Last month, Samsung debuted its first wearable smart ring, the Galaxy Ring. The reviews are fortunate since it beats an Apple Watch in one major way.

Samsung delivered the Galaxy Ring with a powerful package of digital health monitoring and tracking features. However, several options for smart rings are already available in markets, such as Oura and Motiv.

Samsung took time to debut its first wearable smart ring, but in the end, the dealy worth it, as it offers a superior user experience than its rivals and even a few smartwatches. The giant offers AI capabilities, specifically for health and wellness tracking, which have yielded tangible benefits for users, surpassing the insights provided by Apple Watch.

The Galaxy AI features impressive AI-driven health insights, along with a comfortable design and effective stress management tools, which set it apart from rivals such as the Apple Watch.

The Galaxy Ring tracks stress accurately. It uses heart rate variability (HRV) from its optical bio-signal sensor. Whenever stress spikes, the ring offers guided breathing exercises to help users relax. Users can also customize these exercises for duration and intensity.

The Apple Watch can also track HRV and has a significant guided breathing exercise in its mindfulness application. Unlike the Galaxy Ring, Apple doesn’t highlight stress levels or provide actionable insight based on HRV data.

However, a notable drawback of the Galaxy Ring is that it consistently overestimates steps compared to other wearables. Apart from this, it features dozens of functionalities to offer the best experience with Samsung smartphones and smartwatches. On the other side, OS users have limited functionality.

Samsung introduces its ever-first smart wearable ring under the title Galaxy Ring. It features a decent design and dozens of new convenient features, including advanced health monitoring features, for free. Now the brand is gearing up to add more features to enhance the experience, but with a subscription.

Before the official launch of the Galaxy Ring, leaks and rumors aggressively reported that the brand would ask customers to subscribe to experience all the features of the Galaxy Ring. However, the rumor goes against the official revelation, as Samsung lets you use all the features of the Galaxy Ring for free without any subscription.

The Samsung Galaxy Ring is slightly more expensive in comparison to its rivals. But in a way, it’s high-cost and worth it as it does not require a subscription fee to use its features. However, subscriptions will no longer be the case for the Galaxy Ring as soon as the new features are available. It will ask you to pay for a subscription to experience upcoming features.

The Galaxy Ring features a huge variety of health sensors, including a heart rate monitor, sleep tracker, blood oxygen saturation tracker, pedometer, and so on. These sensors are truly beneficial for health and fitness monitoring data, including continuous sleep and heart rate monitoring, activity tracking, workout tracking, cycle tracking, and many more.

Samsung at the Galaxy Unpacked event assured that the current Samsung Health features are free. However, a footnote on one of the presentation slides mentioned an important clarification: this guarantee only applies to “currently available Samsung Galaxy features.” Plus, for “future Samsung Health features,” the Korean giant warns that the current terms and conditions may change later. It remains to be seen how much charge the giant will ask to pay for a subscription.
