Samsung debuted its first Fan Edition variant for its smartwatch, the Galaxy Watch FE, a couple of weeks ago in June. Its specs are quite similar to those of the Galaxy Watch 4. But what about its software policy? Does it also get software support like other Galaxy Watches?

Samsung Galaxy Watch FE runs Android Wear OS 4-based One UI Watch 5 out of the box. Being a Galaxy Watch fan, you must be thinking about whether the FE variant will also get the same software support as the standard variants. The simple answer is no.

Galaxy Watch FE Software Support: How many OS updates does the Watch get?

Samsung promised three years of major Android Wear OS updates and four years of security patches for the Galaxy Watch FE.

The Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch FE feature similar specs, but both have different software support. The Galaxy Watch 4 has four years of major Wear OS updates and five years of security patches.

With this software policy, the Galaxy Watch FE will get the three Wear OS-based One UI Watch updates. These updates will provide an upgraded software version in the future.. This policy was put in place with the recent commitment of the company to providing extended software support for its wearable devices.

These major updates will ensure that they offer the latest features and security improvements over an extended period of time. The security patches will fix all the bugs and known issues and improve the overall system security of the watch in the future.
