Galaxy Z Fold 6 Slim: Could Samsung Beat the Chinese Rival
Samsung recently debuted its Galaxy Z Fold 6 smartphone. Now it is setting up to introduce another variant of the sixth-generation foldable phone under the title, Galaxy Z Fold 6 Slim, which couldn’t be thinner than the already available Chinese foldable on the market.
The Korean giant is trying hard to introduce a slimmer foldable variant as compared to what currently exists in the Galaxy foldable. But it seems that despite struggling quite hard, the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 6 Slim could not beat the slimness of the Chinese foldable.
The forthcoming Galaxy Z Fold 6 could measure between 11 and 11.5 mm in thickness. The Electronic reports that the removal of the digitizer reduced the thickness by 0.6 mm. If the report is to be believed, the removal of the digitizer will result in a reduced thickness of 0.6 mm. On the other side, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 features a 0.6mm digitizer and is 12.1mm thick.
The Galaxy Z Fold 6 has a convenient feature that allows you to use a stylus for drawing and writing. To do this, it has a thin layer on the screen. Noticeably, designing the thinner variant of the phone could damage this layer and affect future phone models.
The Korean brand is looking forward to finding a balance between a thin phone and a reliable product. It’s reported that Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Z Fold Slim could be thicker than the recently launched Chinese foldable phones. Currently, the company is finalizing its decision on how much further it will lower the thickness from 11.5 mm.
The brand prioritizes durability for its foldable phones, testing them to withstand 200,000 folds just to make sure they are water- and dust-resistant. Samsung is unlikely to make the Z Fold 6 Slim thinner than 10.5 mm to maintain this reliability, even though rivals such as Honor and Xiaomi have introduced thinner foldable phones.
Samsung is reportedly working to find ways to slim down its future models without even compromising durability.
