Samsung brought up two new smartwatch models, the Galaxy Watch 7 and Galaxy Watch Ultra, which significantly create a different aura within the wearables lineup due to their smart yet innovative features. These latest Galaxy watches are powered by the Wear OS 5-based One UI 6 Watch version, making them the first Galaxy Watch lineup to hold up this major One UI build.

Meanwhile, it appears like Samsung’s latest Galaxy watches will be refreshed with yet another major One UI build, as Google is reportedly working on the next Wear OS iteration, Wear OS 5.1, which is going to be based on Android 15, according to reports.

One UI 6.5 Watch-based on Wear OS 5.1 Could Be Release for Galaxy Watches

According to the information shared via Android Authority, a next major Wear OS version, named Wear OS 5.1, is already under way and will be based on the next Android 15 operating system out of the box. This eventually suggests that the current Wear OS 5-based One UI 6 Watch runs on Android 14.

However, Wear OS doesn’t follow a consistent release cycle, while the Android software update release cycle is yearly and more consistent. Thus, it’s impossible to track the exact release timeline of the next Wear OS version, as Google straight away jumped to Wear OS 5 instead of offering Wear OS 4.

Moreover, the existence of the next Wear OS 5.1 is still doubtful as there are no other relevant details regarding the same. Still, it’s most likely that if the Wear OS 5 is based on Android 14, then the next Wear OS 5.1 (or probably could be named Wear OS 6) will be based on Android 15, which in turn suggests that Samsung Galaxy Watches could be bumped straight to the Android 15-based Wear OS 6 (Wear OS 5.1).
