Samsung releases August 2024 Security Patch Details for its Galaxy devices

We have already entered August, and guess what? Samsung released its highly-awaited maintenance package as part of the monthly Security Maintenance Release, or SMR, for its major flagship models. This latest monthly SMR package significantly includes patches from both Google and Samsung. 

The latest SMR August 2024 bulletin consists of Google patches that significantly include several patches up to the Android Security Bulletin (August 2024). 

Meanwhile, as a part of Google security patches, this SMR bulletin for August 2024 brings fixes for a total of 34 high-level CVEs, along with one critical and two CVEs that’re not applicable for Samsung devices. In addition, there’s a Samsung semiconductor patch that fixes one high-level security vulnerability for Samsung devices. 

Moreover, accompanied by Google and Samsung Semiconductor patches, Samsung has also offered 14 Samsung Vulnerabilities and Exposures (SVE), which are further meant to improve the Galaxy device’s security, including the CVEs related to the system services, KnoxServices, Galaxy Watch, Telephony, and more. 

On that note, Samsung’s latest Security Maintenance Release (SMR) for August 2024 brings several security patches from Google and Samsung that will significantly improve the Galaxy device’s security while also keeping the device safe and secure from several malicious attacks. 

It’s important to note that Samsung has further listed the Galaxy devices receiving Samsung security updates; meanwhile, it previously removed the Galaxy A21s, while now it’s the Samsung Galaxy A21, which has been removed from the biannual security update list.

Yesterday, Samsung released the November 2024 security patch for the Galaxy Tab S10 series devices in Europe, but it was limited to the 5G variants. Now, with the latest development, it is available for the Wi-Fi variants.

Samsung has rolled out the November 2024 patch for the Galaxy Tab S10+ and Tab S10 Ultra devices with the firmware version number X820XXS2AXJ7 and X920XXS2AXJ7, respectively. The latest update has brought new improvements to the auto blocker with security enhancements.

Auto blocker gets improved

Along with this, the update will also bring new enhancements for the auto blocker. As per the changelog, USB devices will not be allowed to connect to this device after the update except when charging.
