Finally, Samsung announced its first wearable smart ring, the Galaxy Ring, at the launch event. The brand has designed it in a way that is compatible with giving more accurate health statistics.

The Korean brand has debuted its ever-first health-tracking, comfortable-wearing smart ring called the Galaxy Ring. This latest ring uses Samsung’s sensor technology for seamless 24/7 health monitoring.

The newly launched Galaxy Ring just weighs between 2.3 and 3 grams based on its size. It features up to 10 ATM water resistance, a grade 5 titanium finish, and a concave surface, resulting in a decent design. The giant has made the ring available in three color variants, which are as follows:

  • Titanium Black
  • Titanium Silver
  • Titanium Gold

To easily select the perfect size, the giant offers a special kit that makes it easy for you to choose the suitable size from nine available sizes, from US 5 to US 13. The brand made the kit available free of charge while purchasing. Plus, it also offers sample rings that are used exclusively for measurement.

The Galaxy Ring features at least 18 mAh of battery power, which will last for up to seven days, as the brand claims. It will track sleep and offer analysis through Samsung Health. It is integrated with AI to understand sleep patterns and give suggestions on how to improve the sleep schedule.

It will offer a sleep score, snoring analysis, movement tracking, sleep onset time, heart rate, and breathing rate for detailed metrics of sleep quality. Noticeably, you can access all the functionality without a subscription.

The Samsung Galaxy Ring is smartly integrated with Galaxy AI to offer detailed health insights such as sleep, activity, heart rate, and more. It can analyze energy scores and offer personalized wellness tips. It can monitor skin temperature during the night for a better understanding of the menstrual cycle.

You can easily locate your ring in case you misplace it via the Find My Ring function of Samsung Find. Interestingly, you can take pictures easily by double-tapping the ring or turning off alarms on your connected Samsung phone.

Samsung has made the Galaxy Ring available for pre-order in select markets. It will also be available in Italy. It costs 449 euros for the European market.

Samsung is now preparing a proper foundation that will shape the future of wearable devices and services related to health research with the research stack program. Samsung recently launched it to strengthen research about health research data, which will be called the Samsung Health Research Stack Program.

Motive of Samsung Health Research Stack Program

The Samsung Health Stack program is an open-source project that supports digital health research using mobile and wearable devices in Android and Wear OS environments. This platform allows IT developers and medical researchers to conveniently and safely use the relevant data.

As clinical research depends on collecting user data on a daily basis, with this update, the company will make it more accessible to experts to measure, share, and analyze health-related data more conveniently.

Samsung already started the project in 2022 with the Alpha application, and in 2023, it introduced a new version, Samsung Health Stack 1.0. With the latest update, the company will provide several new features that will promote more efficient digital health research.

Last month, Samsung debuted its first wearable smart ring, the Galaxy Ring. The reviews are fortunate since it beats an Apple Watch in one major way.

Samsung delivered the Galaxy Ring with a powerful package of digital health monitoring and tracking features. However, several options for smart rings are already available in markets, such as Oura and Motiv.

Samsung took time to debut its first wearable smart ring, but in the end, the dealy worth it, as it offers a superior user experience than its rivals and even a few smartwatches. The giant offers AI capabilities, specifically for health and wellness tracking, which have yielded tangible benefits for users, surpassing the insights provided by Apple Watch.

The Galaxy AI features impressive AI-driven health insights, along with a comfortable design and effective stress management tools, which set it apart from rivals such as the Apple Watch.

The Galaxy Ring tracks stress accurately. It uses heart rate variability (HRV) from its optical bio-signal sensor. Whenever stress spikes, the ring offers guided breathing exercises to help users relax. Users can also customize these exercises for duration and intensity.

The Apple Watch can also track HRV and has a significant guided breathing exercise in its mindfulness application. Unlike the Galaxy Ring, Apple doesn’t highlight stress levels or provide actionable insight based on HRV data.

However, a notable drawback of the Galaxy Ring is that it consistently overestimates steps compared to other wearables. Apart from this, it features dozens of functionalities to offer the best experience with Samsung smartphones and smartwatches. On the other side, OS users have limited functionality.
