Undoubtedly, the Korean giant ‘Samsung’ prioritizes software security due to its massive user base. A security vulnerability in its software has the potential to cause beneficial damage; that’s the reason the giant invests heavily in bug prevention to protect its users from inconvenience.

The brand has boosted the maximum reward for its bug bounty program, as it is offering a million dollars to anyone who can find a serious security flaw in their phones.

Back in 2017, the Samsung Mobile Security Rewards Program came into existence. Now the brand has released its first annual report, revealing some interesting details. Since its launch, the program has offered almost $5 million in bug bounties.

Samsung paid out $827,925 in 2023 alone to 113 researchers. The highest reward was $57,190 paid to TASZK Security Labs, as it found vulnerabilities that could permit hackers or unauthorized access to mount possible remote attacks.

The brand is looking forward to expanding its bug bounty program to include AI security. This means that hackers can earn up to a million dollars just for finding vulnerabilities in Samsung’s AI technology. The one who finds any exploits that allow arbitrary code execution on highly socially advantaged targets, full user data extractions, unlocking devices, arbitrary application installs, or bypassing device protections can receive up to $1 million, which is now the maximum amount covered under this program.
