Samsung Secures Second Place in Tablet Market in Q2, 2024, Says IDC
Samsung rocks in the tech market again as it secures the second position in the tablet market during the second quarter of 2024.
2024 is a countable year for Samsung for sure, as the sales results of the last quarter of 2024 are in favor of the company. There are now new reports from IDC revealing that during Q2 2024, Samsung ranked second for worldwide tablet shipments.
If the reports are to be believed, Samsung shipped 6.9 million units in 2024, which represents 18.6% growth as compared to shipments from previous years.
On the other hand, Samsung’s biggest rival, Apple, held the first position as it shipped 12.3 million units. Apple grew 18.2% as compared to previous years. With the debut of the 11-inch and 13-inch iPad Air and iPad Pro models, the company was finally able to record growth in the market.
Apart from these two leading brands, Lenovo ranked third with shipments of 2.5 million units, and Xiaomi ranked fifth with shipments of 2 million units.
Comparing the Q2 2024 tablet sales (6.9) of Samsung to last year’s Q2 2023 sales (5.8), it’s transparent that Samsung’s performance increased in the market and is on the way to leading the market.
Regarding this, Anuroopa Natraj, senior research analyst with IDC’s Mobility and Consumer Device Trackers, stated, “The 2Q24 results signal that the market has moved beyond the pandemic. We expect the refresh cycle and growth in emerging markets to continue aiding the recovery in the near term. While new entrants to the market focus on their global expansion, long-term leaders continue to focus on improving technology (as in the case of OLED displays for iPad Pros), catering to the need for premium devices, and utilizing the power of emerging technologies like AI.”
